A downloadable mod

This mod is a near-complete rework of the game's sound system, adding features such as sound depth with detail over distance and tinnitus effects. If you want a visceral, PTSD inducing experience, this is the mod to have.

Fair warning, this will of course cause conflicts with other sound mods. Mix and match at your own peril.

If you want a version that uses the original sound system without the dynamic features (this allows you to adjust the volume with the VFX sliders), you can find that in the LBSO 53 file. This version will eventually be updated to 54 once I find the time. Until then, enjoy the base game ship sounds :)

To install, go to Steam, Browse Local Files, and place the mods in War>Content>Paks
Once installed, tweak your audio volumes to balance the mod with base game sounds.
Due to a technical limitation, the mod's volume is fixed post Update 54 and cannot be adjusted. This is because the root sound class is separate from that of the base game (new sound engine), and the slider paths cannot be changed. You can adjust it relative to everything else by adjusting the "SFX" slider in Game Settings, and then lowering/increasing the volume of the client.

Hey Liquid! Love your mod, been using it for a year now and it's by far the best sound mod out there. I just have to say that 54.1 version seems completely broken and just seems like vanilla audio. I dunno if it's just me but I tested both with and withouth music and they both sounded like vanilla. I also went back to normal 54 version from a couple days ago and it seems to work perfectly fine. So I'll use it for now instead.

Besides this thanks for the awesome mod! Hope you have a great day!

Appreciate you letting us know how you fixed it in case we run into similar issues!

I've been using this mod for a year, and it's easily the best foxhole mod out there. congrats man.

I am in love with your mod, the amount of inmersion it gives is incredible. thank you very much for doing it. You are clearly a very talented guy. Only commend I have is that trucks and vehicules crashing into things or eachother are way too loud, I dont feel it nice nor inmersive, only anoying.

I hope you are able to continue improving this mod and that you get the recognition you deserve

I created this acoount with the only intention of writting this comment to yo

The firetruck reloading sound plays a artillary/tank shell reload sound when reloading the water

That's the dev's fault, not mine. Blame Update 52

I absolutly adore this sound mod and im so sorry to hear this as it is definitly my favorite, sad pepe is sad ...

I will also join the #savethesoundmod

Super sorry to hear about the most recent build issues. This was (and still is) an absolutely phenomenal mod and it sucks to see something so destabilized so abruptly. I hope you do continue this mod as it has made my experiences within Foxhole so visceral and meaningful but at the same time do what you gotta do for your own health, ya know?

Hey first of all your mod is AMAZING. The battlefield seems finally real, and i am loving it.
The only problem is with vocal chat IG, i tried everything but the sounds covers it and i am unable to ear my friends during battle.

If you or anybody have tips about that, i will be thankfull.
Again great Mod amazing job mate .

Edit : The SFX volume seems to not work for your mod

Yep. Because of the fact that I completely upended the base game sound classes I have no way to assign them to the sliders (I’ve tried, believe me). Increase the volume of the voice chat output in voice settings, and if you need to, lower the volume of the game itself with the windows volume mixer. It’s not ideal, but it works.

I really don't know how it works, but i remember that skaj was able to assign on SFX volume slider, maybe he knows how to do.
I don't hear my mate clearly and it's the only downside.

The new bullet cracks are really overbearing given they always go off even if the HMG isn't firing at you. Combine this with multiple and all I can hear is the constant cracks and pops more than anything else.

Would personally prefer if there was either an option or separate pack that didn't have the cracks. That aside, stellar work!

This was an attenuation issue that took a while to fix. I can say with full confidence this should be fixed in the latest update

I am testing it now but unfortunitly the cracks can still be heard over everything else even before  I can see the fighting, also there seems to be a bug but the audio of inside vehicle when raining doesnt seem to stop or change when im outside in the rain, died a few times and on death it stops but as soon as I spawn it starts again.

(Edit)- Upon further testing it seems to have something to do with Town Bases, If I spawn in 1 then the bug persists but if i spawn in a BB then it works fine and changes from inside to outside.

... I am still enjoying the rest of the Mod very much.

Keep up the good work! breathing life into this game for me and many others, have recomended it to all my friends :)

Thank you for the update! dowloaded and strait into it ! woop woop

The rining from arty (while nice idea) really hard on the ears and brain when sitting in a arty fire storm.. Sound levels need some tlc but otherwise REALLY good

Weapons sound nice. What i find disturbing are the loud footsteps. They need to be lowered significantly imo

small bug, when I add the mod, I know it seems strange but I no longer have any footprints on the ground when I add the mod in my files, I tried all my mods and it is he who make my footprints disappear

On a diferent note, a mod request would be a mod that removes/replaces the music in the colonial home island, the musik sounds like "diggy diggy hole" and is a huge imersionbreaker for me.

This is the best soundmod I've seen for this game.

Requests:

sometimes I feel like the sounds are quite midrange heavy and could use some EQing to get a more crisp sound, maybe you would want to look into the harman curve.

I think the mod is a bit heavy on the ear ringing and shells canceling the sound out. My sugestion is either 1. tone it down a bit 2. make it more scarce or 3. make two versions of the mod, v1 with earringing/defening enabled and v2 with ear ringing completely disabled.

I also think that some of the submachineguns could use some more work, especially the warden "The Liar" which I think is a bit too loud and MG like, I suppose the sound refference is of an PPSH?

Either way, I think ppl should download this mod, it's really interesting and makes the game pop in a nice, realism oriented way

Thank god for this mod replacing Foxhole's cartoonish sound effects, really this modded soundpack breathes life into Foxhole. My only gripe is that machine gun pillboxes, flatbed trucks, gates, and the mobile cranes do not have sound effects to them and are completely silent

An absolutely phenomenal sound design mod. The mod itself has adaptive / reactive capabilities (distance gunfire sounds muted, explosions cause in game ringing) that go such a long way into enhancing the overall Foxhole experience. The sounds themselves are clean and crisp, being just loud enough. The world and war feels alive, environments that felt auditorily lack luster now feel rich and alive. Firefights feel... traumatic and brutal.

The sound design in this mod leans more towards creating a realistic sounding battlefield as opposed to a more cinematic rendition of one.

A+. Keep updating it. This with 1.0 will be absolutely wild.
